Ain't Lizzy formed in the early part of 1993, five individuals (originally six) dedicated to recreating the music of Thin Lizzy and the now
legendary Phillip Lynott: With band leader Pete Schofield on lead guitar, Mark Hughes on bass guitar, John Boardman on lead guitar, Andy Fox on drums and lead vocalist Vic Allen they threw themselves into rehearsals with a dedication borne out of love of Thin Lizzy`s music.
With band mentor Pete Schofield at the helm they painstakingly recreated note for note the twin guitar Lizzy sound and with Vic Allen's uncanny likeness to Lynott`s voice they soon had the unmistakable Lizzy sound replicated.
With Andy Fox`s powerhouse drumming driving the band on, they launched into their 1st live gig at the Island Rock Club Derby in May 1993. A small but enthusiastic crowd lapped up every second and howled for more at the end.
A heavy gigging schedule ensued, seeing the band grow in confidence, as did their fan base. The next 2 years saw the band travel the length and breadth of the country, including the prestigious Rock and Blues festival and the Phillip Lynott tribute "Are You Ready" at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
Dedicated band Aint lizzy were exactly that – they're weren't Thin Lizzy – as the distinct lack of hair`n`leather would instantly tell you. What they were was a very tight rock outfit, who reproduced the music of that legendary rock band to a stunning high standard and with a smile and humor that suggested they enjoyed every minute of it.
An Ain't Lizzy gig would set the hairs standing up on the back of the necks of the most seasoned rockers and dedicated LIZZY fans “Close your eyes and it's Live And Dangerous” (probably the originals most famous album) to quote the sound engineer at their first gigHailed wherever they went Ain`t Lizzy were the premier Lizzy Tribute band of the time, bringing to life once more the music of sadly missed Phillip Lynott and Thin Lizzy.
They were often described as a live juke box. Fans often said they just closed their eyes and it was Thin Lizzy – the greatest compliment that the band could ever have been paid. Sadly the band split when at their prime at the end of 1994 – a short working life together had seen them rise from a fledgling outfit to a well respected act on the live rock circuit.

A little note from Vic Allen (Lead Singer Aint Lizzy)

From the moment I was old enough to understand what rock music was about there was only ever one band for me-Thin Lizzy.  Phillip Lynott was my hero and my mentor.  Being a member of Ain`t Lizzy was both a pleasure and a privilege - a pleasure to be in the company of such talented musicians, and a privilege to be able to sing Philo`s songs night after night.  He left us a legacy, one that is now alive and well in the form of the Lizzy reunion and the excellent Limehouse Lizzy. Check them both out and remember...............................
